This is an overview of the entire Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Speak Truth To Power syllabus, from EYFS right the way through to Year 6. Each Year Group focuses on a different topic, based around a specific Article from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

LESSON PLANS
INTRODUCTION TO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER
This is an overview of the entire Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Speak Truth To Power syllabus, from EYFS right the way through to Year 6. Each Year Group focuses on a different topic, base around a specific Article from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. There are six sessions planned per year group, and an accompanying PowerPoint for each session, including relevant YouTube resources. ​
YEAR 1 - FRIENDS
These sessions have a focus on Friends, based on Article 15 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; Every child has the right to meet with other children and to join groups and organisations. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activists Marcus Rashford, Iqbal Masih and Sophie Cruz.
EYFS
These sessions have a focus on Identity, based on Article 7 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; Every Child has the right to an Identity. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activist Marley Dias. Pupils will also explore how the can ake a change themselves or how they can help others to change.
YEAR 2 - CLIMATE CHANGE
These sessions have a focus on Climate Change, based on Article 24 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; Every child has the right to thebest possible health. Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutricious food, and a clean environment. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activists Amy & Ella Meek, Isra Hirsi & Wangari Maasthai.
YEAR 3 - EDUCATION
These sessions have a focus on Education, based on Article 28 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; Every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be avilable to every child. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activists Mari Copney & Malal Yousafzai.
YEAR 4 - GENDER EQUALITY
These sessions have a focus on Gender Equality, based on Article 4 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; Governments must do all they can to make sure every child can enjoy their rights by creating systems and passing laws that promote and protect childrens rights. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activists Rima Sultana Rimu and Iilwad Ellman.
YEAR 5 - SYSTEMIC RACISM
These sessions have a focus on Systemic Racism, based on Article 2 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; The Convention appluies to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, sex, religion, languager, abilities or any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activists Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Amanda Gorman & Thandie Abdullah.
YEAR 6 - LGBTQ+ RIGHTS
These sessions have a focus on LGBTQ+ Communities, based on Article 12 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child; Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously. Ths right appllies at all times. As well as an introduction to what are human rights, and who and what make movements for change happen, there is focus on the Human Rights Activists Bana Al Abed, Ashton Mota and Robby Novak.
