CREATIVE PLACARD MAKING

We engaged more young people and schools in human rights education by delivering creative placard workshops.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS

Young people have seen protests in the news and in their local communities. But what rights are they standing up for?

In our workshops we teach young people the basic principles and attitudes which underpin human rights.

We discuss the history of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, how and why they were created, as well as what protections the 30 Articles of Human Rights provides each and every human.

From the right to a nationality to the right to be your own person, we analyse what each of these rights mean to us and our communities. We look at past examples of activists who have stood up for their community and how they've communicated their cause to those in power.

Participants pick a human right which is important to them then are tasked with the activity of visually communicating that cause to others through a placard.

Each group then host their own soap box presentation.
